pudgycatdoll asked: Do you make your own seitan or do you buy it? It looks really professional. If you make it could you share tips?
I do make my own. I like to experiment with it. My first trials were really horrible. I found a basic recipe that works and here it is.
- 1 1/4 cup vital wheat gluten
- 1/3 cup chicken broth powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- freshly ground white pepper
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 to 1 1/4 cup water
*note: the chicken broth powder isn’t real chicken. It’s nutritional yeast and poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
You can totally change the spices up depending on what your making. Also make sure you have a good marinade and cook it for long enough otherwise it can be very squishy. Eww. Happy Experimenting!
